Carlson Speaks Out Against Murdoch’s Efforts to Control Trump with VP

A shocking new report claims News Corp.’s Rupert Murdoch has launched a relentless campaign to control former President Donald Trump, trying to get him to choose North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum as his running mate — or at least to prevent him from choosing Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), over whom Murdoch has no influence.

Murdoch Stories from NOTUS Trump has been making multiple personal calls a day and, as Breitbart News has reported multiple times before, has enlisted the help of his media counterparts. New York Post And that The Wall Street Journal To further the agenda.

“Rupert Murdoch has begun a serious lobbying campaign to get Donald Trump to pick North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum as his vice president, NOTUS sources say,” NOTUS’s Reese Gorman writes. “And if Trump doesn’t pick Burgum, Murdoch has apparently made one final request: at the very least, not to pick Sen. J.D. Vance. Sources told NOTUS on Friday that Murdoch has been supporting Burgum and opposing Vance for quite some time, by calling and sending surrogates directly to Trump. Sources close to Trump told NOTUS that Murdoch calls the former president regularly, urging him to pick Burgum multiple times a day. A Fox News communications consultant told NOTUS that Murdoch has sent New York Post employees to Mar-a-Lago to denounce Vance and make the case for the North Dakota governor. And sources close to Trump told NOTUS something similar, saying Murdoch has had News Corp executives meet with the former president to personally urge him to support Burgum and oppose Vance.”

Additionally, the NOTUS article includes a public quote from former Fox News primetime host Tucker Carlson speaking out against Murdoch’s obsession with blocking Vance.

“It turns out that many supposedly conservative news organizations have no interest whatsoever in the issues that interest their readers and viewers. Instead, they are focused on promoting pointless wars,” Carlson said. “That’s why they’re so desperate to destroy J.D. Vance before Trump makes his pick. Let’s hope they don’t succeed.”

It’s a big development for Carlson to speak out so forcefully and aggressively against his former company. There has been a feud between the two since Carlson left the company last year, but much of it has been simmering under the surface. Now Carlson is coming forward and publicly slamming the globalists who control Fox News. It’s unclear if this will have any impact on Trump, but it’s unlikely he’s going to give the impression of even a modicum of influence over Murdoch when he tried so vigorously to block Trump’s return to the White House.

In his explosive article, Gorman cites people familiar with the matter as saying Murdoch’s efforts are aimed at reasserting his control over the Republican Party, taking it back from Trump, weathering Trump’s next term and then returning the GOP to its old ways.

“Rupert has always viewed Trump as subservient,” said a Fox communications consultant. “That bothers him. He’s not looking forward to the next four years of having to kowtow to Trump. They don’t want Trump on Fox, so they’re bringing in Burgum there and grooming him for the next four years to be the president. That’s his way of ending Trumpism.”

Later in the article, a longtime Trump adviser said Murdoch “want to use the vice presidential nomination to gain control over Trump and his second administration.”

But if Trump chooses Vance rather than Burgum or the other candidates under discussion, the Trump adviser told media, “it would send a signal that Rupert Murdoch no longer controls the Republican Party and that the party has become Trump’s party.”

It remains to be seen who Trump will choose as his vice president and when the announcement will be made, but it will likely be soon. The Republican National Convention begins in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Monday, and on the same day delegates will begin the process of formally nominating Trump and his running mate as the next President and Vice President of the United States. As Breitbart News reported on Friday, many signs point to Vance’s victory. And given his background as a combat Marine veteran, selecting Vance would be a historic choice. If selected, Vance would be the first Marine Corps veteran to be nominated for president on a major party ticket. He would also be the first millennial to be nominated for a major party ticket. At 39, Vance is the same age as former President Richard Nixon was when former President Dwight Eisenhower chose him as his running mate in the mid-20th century.
