Carmen Electra Revisits Playboy Roots on the Red Carpet

Carmen Electra made a striking appearance recently, stepping back into her Playboy past with a bold red carpet outfit.

At the Abbey Food & Bar’s 35th Anniversary Celebration, she donned a leopard-print bodysuit alongside matching bunny ears. Her look was completed with a bow tie, cufflinks, sheer black tights, and a chic black handbag, topped off with some jewelry and black high heels.

With her long blonde hair cascading down and dramatic silver eyeshadow accenting her eyes, she truly turned heads.

Although not an official Playmate, Electra graced the pages of Playboy five times, including a memorable shoot in the bunny costume. Her maiden appearance was for the May 1996 issue, followed by another feature in June 1997. She once reflected on the transformative moment of seeing herself in the magazine, expressing disbelief and excitement about being part of such an iconic legacy. “Marilyn Monroe started with Playboy. Those women inspired me,” she recalled, admitting she feels no embarrassment about her time with the magazine anymore.

Her visibility in Playboy eventually led to Hollywood opportunities, including a role on the hit series Baywatch, where she joined in 1997 during its eighth season.

Speaking at a 90s convention in September 2024, Electra opened up about her early struggles. She revealed, rather candidly, that before hitting it big, she was homeless in Los Angeles and didn’t come from wealth. She knew she had to be in New York or L.A. and faced plenty of challenges. But, she took it one step at a time, gradually finding her footing.

In 2022, Electra pivoted her career, joining the subscription-driven social media platform OnlyFans, which she described as a “no-brainer.” She feels it gives her more of a personal connection with her fans, noting that no matter what, people would find a way to use her photos. This way, she has control and can share her creative vision without outside restrictions.

Electra emphasized that the platform has allowed her entrepreneurial spirit to flourish, and she feels like she’s finally her own boss. It seems this move has been quite freeing for her.
