Democratic strategist James Carville said it was “kind of weird” to see his name used in Biden campaign fundraising messages, even though he didn’t expect President Joe Biden to run for president in 2024.
The Biden campaign used Carville’s name in fundraising messages, urging Democratic supporters to donate to the Biden-Harris campaign. The Washington Post He said he “didn’t care” about that message as much as Bide’s performance in the presidential debate, but maintained he “never agreed” with it.
“Hello, this is James Carville,” the message read. “I’m asking you and all Democrats around the world to donate to the Biden-Harris campaign ASAP and help us defeat Donald Trump.”
Biden appeared confused and frozen during the presidential debate, and his voice was husky and he spoke in a mumbling voice.
“I didn’t think it was a clever idea,” Carville told the outlet. “He doesn’t have advisors. He has employees.”
In response to Carville’s surprise that his name had been used in a fundraising message, Biden campaign spokeswoman Lauren Hitt said Carville and his team had “approved a robust fundraising package” for the Biden-Harris campaign.
“I’m grateful for all that has been done to help Joe Biden be re-elected to a second term,” Hitt added.
Carville told media that while he was shocked to see his name used in the fundraising message, it was a “minor issue” “among all the glitches they’ve had.”
“It’s kind of weird to see your name out there in front of half a million people,” Carville added.
Carville said it was odd to see his name on a fundraising message, but added that he plans to vote for Biden if he remains in the presidential race.
