Carville on Biden’s dismal debate: He relies on ‘employees’ not ‘advisers’

James Carville, a longtime Democratic strategist, said after President Biden’s poor approval ratings during Thursday night’s debate that President Biden doesn’t have advisers telling him what to do, he has employees.

Since the debate between Biden and former President Trump, the discussion has centered on whether Biden should step aside to allow another Democrat to challenge Trump in the polls.

Carville He told Axios He said he never thought a Biden run was a “nice idea” and predicts Biden will be out of the running by Election Day.

While some Democrats are sounding the alarm after the debate, others are backing the president, and Carville said there are only a few people the president really listens to, regardless of what his campaign staff thinks.

“He doesn’t have advisors, he just has employees,” Carville said.

The fact that some House Democrats are questioning his competence would have been unthinkable before the debate, but now some are saying it’s time for him to step aside.

Biden staunch supporters like former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) defended Biden’s record and character, saying he was “off to a bad start” but that his integrity is “far superior” to Trump’s “dishonesty.”

Another former House Speaker, Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), also spoke out, arguing that no one can negotiate with Biden and the only way the slate would change is if he himself withdraws.

Axios reported that a small group of Biden’s closest allies — his wife, Jill Biden, his sister Valerie Biden and longtime friend Ted Kaufman — are ultimately “the only people with the power to make the decisions for Biden.”
