Carville: People view Omar as ‘more trouble than they are worth’

On Wednesday, Democratic strategist James Carville targeted Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), suggesting that individuals like her create “more trouble than they are worth.”

This criticism follows a comment Omar made seven years ago to Al Jazeera, where she stated that people should be “more afraid of white men” in the U.S., as they are responsible for a significant number of deaths.

Carville responded, noting that “69% of people who vote are white.” He went on to imply that a good portion of voters are male and, through some rough calculations, concluded that targeting “33% of people who vote” is not a practical strategy. He suggested that while some may agree with Omar, they pose a bigger issue than they merit.

In a 2018 interview, Omar had mentioned the need for “policy profiling, surveillance, and creation” to deal with the radicalization of white men, a statement that has gained renewed attention from right-wing outlets like Libs of TikTok.

Vice President Vance also commented on Omar’s earlier statements, posting on X about the harm of such views, calling them “a language of genocide” and criticizing her assertions.

In response, Omar highlighted a report from the Prevention League noting that, during the timeframe of her original comments, white supremacists accounted for 78% of extremist-related killings.

Efforts were made to reach out to Omar’s office for further comments.
