Carville Says Attacks on Kamala Are Coming

In an interview with PBS’s “Firing Line” that aired this week, Democratic strategist James Carville praised Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign for running the party.

But he said he expected future attacks and had urged the vice presidential team to prepare.

“What’s the key for the vice president to maintain enthusiasm for this candidacy through the rest of the campaign?” asked PBS host Margaret Hoover.

“That’s the key question,” Carville responded. “The first step is to recognize what happened. What happened was people wanted something different and she simply projected the fact that she expected the future, there was no policy that anybody was pushing. There wasn’t any particular group behind this. There was just a general sense that people wanted a different option than Donald Trump and President Biden, and that’s what happened.”

“Now she’s going to be defeated badly,” he continued. “They’re coming out and this is no different than any other time. They’ve got to be up and prepared and able to defend and attack at the same time. There’s going to be an uphill battle to define who Vice President Harris is, and we’d better be prepared for that.”
