Democratic strategist James Carville said Monday on CNN’s “OutFront” that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. would be in a psychiatric hospital if he were a citizen of a “more humane country.”
“Bobby Kennedy had a brain-eating parasite in his head, and it starved to death, so I think we should give him a lot of leeway, because I think he’s a little bit odd,” said Democratic strategist Paul Begala.
Moderator Erin Burnett asked, “Do you feel there is a difference between what Paul has said and what you think about the Trump-Kennedy pairing? Do you think he’s someone who should be a concern for Democrats, or do you not think so at all?”
Carville added: “Absolutely not. I really feel for the Kennedy family and I remind them that you can choose your friends but you can’t choose your relatives. If Bobby Kennedy lived in a more humane country, they would lock him in a nice rubber room, give him three hots and a cot and look after this guy. He shouldn’t have to mingle with people on the street. But this is the state of this country. We have a mental health crisis and he’s at the forefront of it.”
