Tucker Carlson had a full house on Tuesday. Australian Freedom Congress The event in Canberra was one of the final stops on his Australian tour, and Carlson’s comments about subversive pharmaceutical companies, woke corporations, the release of Julian Assange, dishonest journalists and governments’ obligation to put their own citizens before foreigners – as well as his mere presence there – infuriated parts of Australia’s liberal media.
After the speech, Carlson fielded questions from two people, including two hostile journalists, and despite their efforts, neither journalist was able to land a successful attack.
Kat WongAn Australian Press Agency reporter launched his attack: “You’ve spoken a bit about immigration and in the past you’ve spoken about white Australians, Americans and Europeans being replaced by non-white immigrants in so-called ‘immigration countries.’ Great Substitution Theory”
“Did I say that white people are being replaced? I don’t think I said that,” Carlson interjected.
“Well,” the liberal journalist replied, “it’s been mentioned 4,000 times on your show.”
It’s unclear how Wong came up with that figure, but it’s possible he misunderstood a smaller figure. Shown In 2022, Carlson covered the topic in more than 400 episodes of his former show, “Tucker Carlson Today.”
“Really? When did I ever say that?” Carlson asked. “Did I say, ‘White people are being replaced’?”
When Wong claimed to have discussed the replacement in racial terms, Carlson challenged her understanding of the facts and again asked her to provide just one quote. When Wong failed to provide even that, Carlson clarified his own position on the matter.
“If you think it’s racism, that’s your problem.”
“I said, ‘Native-born Americans, including black Americans, are being replaced,'” Carlson said. “Native-born Americans…African-Americans, as have black Americans, have in many cases lived in America with their families for over 400 years. Their concerns are just as real and just as valid and just as vivid to me as the concerns of a white person who has lived in America with their families for over 400 years. So I never said white people are being replaced.”
After pointing out that Wong started things off badly with lies, Carlson elaborated on his thinking.
My concern is that the people born in the country are the primary responsibility of the leadership of that country. And as I said, it is immoral for leaders to shift their focus from the people they are responsible for caring for to the people around the world, putting their own priorities above their own people. And in my country, people born in the United States are being replaced, and the birth rate says it all. They are not meeting replacement rates.
The US population is growing because we’re importing people from other countries. In my opinion, happy people have kids. And if you have a functioning economy, you can have kids. The US doesn’t have that. So let’s fix our economy, fix our culture, and let people who want to have kids have them. Don’t rely on the quick fix of importing new people. If you think that’s racism, that’s your problem.
Wong responded by denying that he meant to paint Carlson as a racist, but then did so and pinned the blame for the shooting on him.
“This is the same theory or idea that inspired the Buffalo, New York, shooting,” said a liberal journalist. The Times’ long-standing efforts Similarly, they blame Carlson for the mass shooting at a Tops Friendly Market in Buffalo.
“Come on,” Carlson said, “how come there are so many idiots in the media? They must not be well paid. … I’m not going to call you an idiot. Maybe you’re just pretending to be an idiot.”
Carlson stressed that there was nothing bias in his view, adding: “It’s actually based on deep concern for Americans. Americans aren’t having children because they can’t afford it and nobody cares. That’s my position. It doesn’t ‘provoke’ mass shootings.”
Last year’s US birth rate was 1.784In contrast, the US birth rate in 1960 was 3.7A birth rate of 2.1 is needed to maintain population stability and replenish without the need for an influx of foreigners.
To demonstrate the weakness of Wong’s ad hominem attacks, Carlson said he had walked in the same shoes as Adolf Hitler, hence the similarities, drawing laughter from the audience.
Despite the apparent failed engagement, Wong attempted one last rhetorical attack, asking Carlson if he felt responsible for hate crimes allegedly caused by his views. Carlson concluded that Australian journalists, like their American counterparts, were “neutered robots who read questions from their bosses.”
Paul Sackal of the Sydney Morning Herald similarly tried to humiliate Tucker Carlson, but his efforts also backfired.
Before a lengthy introduction, Sackal suggested his main interest was in Carlson’s interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin, with Carlson making a joke mocking Australia’s authoritarian leader: “Did he get you guys to take the Covid vaccine? No he didn’t.”
After noting that various supposedly conservative people had viewed Putin as “reprehensible,” Sackal asked: “Do you feel any embarrassment or regret that you were called a useful idiot, and that after the interview Vladimir Putin himself said in Russian media that he was surprised at how weak your questions were?”
Carlson first wondered why Sakkar could demonize Putin while simultaneously taking his words at face value. He then suggested that Sakkar’s longstanding criticism of Ukraine’s escalating defensive war against Russia should not be confused with his support for the Russian leader. He went on to say that he doesn’t support Putin, but even if he did, it shouldn’t matter because a free citizen of a nominally free country should be able to express support for anyone.
Although Sakkar was unable to attack directly, he later tried to do so through the Herald. Hit Articles There, he noted that Carlson was a “recovered alcoholic” and alluded to, but did not quote, the accusation of anti-Semitism.
