Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-Texas) said Trump Intelligence officials lied when they said the information contained in the Signal Group chat did not include classification information.
“The idea is that even if it is presented to the committee, it will not be classified. I know that it is a lie. That's ridiculous.
“And to say that isn't the case, it's a lie to the country.”
Castro commented on National Intelligence Director Tusli Gabbard and CIA Director John Ratcliffe. He told the Senate Intelligence News Committee on Tuesday that the signal chat, which is discussing a signal chat about a bombing program on a target in Houthi in Yemen, did not contain classification information. The debate became clear after the mistaken inclusion of Atlantic journalist Jeffrey Goldberg.
“There is no way we sat on this committee for nine years, someone would bring that information and give us that it wasn’t classified. [that] You can leave this room with this information and give it to the person you want. ”
Ranking member Jim Himes (D-Conn.) said earlier on Wednesday the office of the National Intelligence Classification Guidelines Bureau should be the best secret.
