Catchers worth waiting for in your fantasy baseball drafts

Welcome back, Fantasy Baseball purchasing fans!

Think of Roto Rage as your personal shopper, guiding you to the best deals possible as you look to build a well-rounded roster. First on the list is catcher.

why? Well, everyone needs it. And unlike in past years, there are plenty of attractive options. You just need to know which stores have the best deals.

According to Jarrad Wilke of the Post, the Orioles’ Adley Rutschman is probably the only catcher worth spending big money on in fantasy baseball. USA Today Sports

If you want Adley Rutschman from the Orioles, be prepared to pay Bergdorf Goodman’s price (his average draft position is No. 44.93, according to Fantasy Alarm). Is he worth it? Yes, and Roto Rage is probably the only catcher to ever say that.

If you miss out on a latchman, follow the normal steps for drafting a catcher. Please be patient.

Skip Saks Fifth Avenue. There, prices for players like the Dodgers’ Will Smith (80.23 ADP), Philadelphia’s JT Realmuto (80.88) and Milwaukee’s William Contreras (86.28) remain relative to positions that are getting deeper and younger. It is quite expensive. Macy’s carries Houston’s Yainar Diaz (122.55) and Atlanta’s Sean Murphy (150.15), but you can still shop (there will probably be bigger sales). If you stop by H&M, you can find great deals on the Mets’ Francisco Alvarez ($167.50) and Arizona’s Gabriel Moreno ($188.95), but there are more cost-effective options as well.

Visit our Factory Outlet for the best deals. There you’ll find a much cheaper (and younger) version of Realmuto, the Guardians’ Bo Naylor (228.48) at Saks OFF 5th.

Naylor has his flaws, but in 72 major league games he has a batting average of .228 and a strikeout rate of 24.4 percent. But in five seasons in the minors, he batted .241 with 57 home runs, 242 RBIs, a .348 on-base percentage and a .781 OPS. He also had 44 stolen bases, including a .263 batting average, 21 home runs, 68 RBIs, 73 RBIs, .392 OBP, and .889 OPS in 118 games between Double-A and Triple-A. Includes 20 stolen bases in 2022.

Naylor may also lose out to defense-first backstop Austin Hedges for a starting spot, especially against a southpaw, but the 24-year-old has a lot of upside — and he plans to use it in 2023. This was proven at the end of the 2019 season.

In his first 39 games last year, Naylor had 21 hits in 117 at bats (.180), four home runs, 14 RBIs, 37 strikeouts and a .592 OPS. However, in 28 games from August 19th to October, he recorded a batting average of .321, 7 home runs, 18 RBIs, 19 RBIs, and an OPS of 1.113 in one game, increasing his batting average from .179 to .237. He also had as many walks as strikeouts (16), a .434 OBP, and four stolen bases during that span.

Among catchers with at least 90 at-bats during that span, Naylor ranked first in OBP, SLG, and OPS. He was fifth in RBI, third in average, and tied for second in stolen bases. He also had the fifth lowest strikeout rate and the highest walk rate.

A batting average in the .240 range isn’t ideal, but it’s possible to get a catcher with double-digit stolen base potential (without paying Realmuto’s price) who has a history of being on base and a solid hitting ability (career .240). ) can be obtained. 223ISO). Nailer is the epitome of discount shopping.

If you’re looking for an even better deal, it’s worth picking up Padres backstop Luis Campusno (252.55) from Banana Republic’s discount rack. Last year, the 25-year-old appeared in 174 at-bats, hitting .319 with seven home runs, 30 RBIs, 27 RBIs and an .847 OPS. This includes a .331 batting average, six home runs, 28 RBIs, and an .875 OPS from July 19 to September 19. twenty four.

It’s not unreasonable to think that Rockies catcher Elias Diaz’s production at the plate is inflated by playing half of his games at Coors Field, making him a cost-effective option for fantasy baseball teams. Robert Sabo

Colorado’s Elias Diaz (260.48 points) sits in the rack outside Champion Outlet. He’s very cheap, especially for a player who played half his games at Coors Field and batted .267 with 14 home runs and 72 RBIs last season.

Other options may be as good as knock-offs from 6th Avenue street vendors (you can find yourself a nice “Romex” or “Tad Heuer” watch). These are cheap imitations, but include Cincinnati’s Tyler Stevenson (254.1 points), Toronto’s Alejandro Kirk (266.08 points), Danny Jansen (269.35 points), Oakland’s Shea Langeliers (276.48 points), and the Yankees’ Austin. Wells (298.57).
