Cate Blanchett has revealed how much she was paid for her role in “The Lord of the Rings,” one of the highest-grossing films of all time, saying it was basically “nothing.”
During a recent interview with “Watch What Happens Live,” the “Borderlands” star was asked which movie made him the most money.
“Probably ‘Lord of the Rings,'” host Andy Cohen speculated.

Blanchett responded, “Are you kidding me? No, no one got paid to be in this movie.”
When asked if she’d last received anything, Blanchett replied, “No! That was a long time ago. No, nothing!”
“I wanted to work with the guy who made BrainDead,” she said, referring to Peter Jackson’s 1992 film Dead Alive.
Blanchett went on to explain how little she was paid for appearing in The Lord of the Rings.
“So I basically got a free sandwich and kept my ear.”

The Oscar-winning actress played the royal elf Galadriel in the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, wearing pointy prosthetic ears as part of her costume. She also starred in the “Hobbit” film series, which was a prequel to the “Lord of the Rings” films.
“Women don’t get paid as much as you think they do,” Blanchett argued.

A representative for Blanchett did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
During Blanchett’s appearance, she “invoked her right to remain silent” when Cohen asked her which of her Hollywood male co-stars – which included Brad Pitt, Robert Redford, George Clooney, Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio – she had been the most difficult to work with.
The actress will star in the upcoming film “Borderlands” alongside Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Jamie Lee Curtis.

During a special fan screening of the new action-comedy on Tuesday, Curtis stood directly behind Blanchett and tried to hide his ripped pants, telling Entertainment Tonight , “Nothing’s happening! You know what’s going on? I got her back.”
The two leading ladies laughed and remained close together throughout the interview, with Curtis carefully covering Blanchett’s bottom.
