Former CBS News correspondent Katherine Herridge, recognized for her investigation into Hunter Biden’s laptop, is launching a new series with the Los Angeles Times Media Group.
Entitled “Straight to the Point,” this weekly show will showcase Herridge’s investigations and appear on her channel on X, as well as the digital platforms of L.A. Times Media Group, which is owned by Patrick Soon-Shiong.
The series is set to debut on Sunday, beginning with an exclusive interview with Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon. This interview, produced by Trifilm Pictures, will address the investigation into a swastika painted at a Brooklyn Jewish school shortly after Zoran Mamdani’s New York City mayoral election win.
“In a time when viewers seek fair, comprehensive, and independent journalism, [L.A. Times Media Group] … is providing the platform to pursue the facts wherever they lead,” Herridge stated. She added that the combination of independence and amplification tied to a notable brand is crucial right now.
The Emmy Award-winning journalist was controversially let go in 2024 during significant layoffs at CBS News. However, she is now forging her own path as an independent journalist.
Her recent works include interviews with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, a CIA whistleblower alleging government cover-ups regarding Havana Syndrome, and details on how CBS purportedly hindered her reporting on the Hunter Biden laptop issue.
Herridge aims to bring her passionate journalism approach to the L.A. Times. The series will consist of around 44 videos, featuring exclusive interviews with figures in government, business, technology, culture, and national security, along with investigations and articles to provide background on key news events.
At this moment, the L.A. Times is also looking to strengthen its public profile following a challenging period of layoffs and financial struggles.
Mr. Soon-Shiong remarked, “I have always admired Catherine’s dedication to fact-based journalism. The mission of LATMG is to empower independent journalists to seek the truth with integrity and impact. Audiences crave genuine, unfiltered voices they can trust, and that’s precisely what Catherine and ‘Straight to the Point’ deliver.”
