The cause of death for beloved makeup artist Jacen Kaplan has been reported as suicide. Authorities stated that he suffered from “blunt impact injuries to the torso and extremities,” which were consistent with a fall from a height.
Kaplan passed away in a New York City hospital on December 31, just hours before the New Year celebrations. He was only 46 years old. News of his death has shaken the Hollywood community, with many expressing deep sorrow for the talented artist, who was well-known for his work with celebrities like Bethenny Frankel and Kelly Osbourne.
“He was a remarkable artist and a genuinely kind person,” shared a friend. “Once people started working with him, they often stayed with him for years.” Another remarked on his significance in the industry, noting that some clients had been with him for over 20 years, indicating the deep connections he formed.
Kaplan first gained wider recognition in 2005 as a cast member of the reality show “The Gastineau Girls,” alongside Britney Spears and Lisa Gastineau. Over the years, he became a sought-after makeup artist for stars including Eva Longoria, Lynda Carter, and Cyndi Lauper.
He also appeared on the dating show “Finding Prince Charming,” produced by Lance Bass in 2016. This loss is particularly poignant as it follows the recent passing of another contestant from the same series, Chad Spodick.
