Cause of death revealed for 16-year-old TikTok star Joshua Blackledge

The details surrounding the death of TikTok star Joshua Blackledge have been clarified nearly three months after his passing.

The 16-year-old, who boasted over a million followers, died on March 18 in his home in Newport, North Carolina, due to suicide.

Documents reveal that he left behind teddy bears, notes, and pictures at the scene. His family found him.

He suffered a gunshot wound to the head, according to the coroner’s report. Notably, the young influencer had shown “behavioral changes” socially and academically in the months leading up to his death.

The investigation noted that no drugs were found at the scene.

Blackledge was a junior at West Carteret High School and actively participated in wrestling and track, as mentioned in his obituary.

He had a passion for the outdoors, particularly enjoying fishing, boating, and spending time near water. He also had a fondness for cars and trucks.

At home, he loved cooking with his mom and gardening, which reflected his vibrant personality and sense of humor.

His social media frequently featured his white BMW and more recently, new trucks.

His girlfriend, Emmy Gillikin, was a regular presence on his account, and they had just celebrated eight months together the day before his tragic death.

After losing him, Gillikin shared a series of heartfelt videos of the couple online.

In her emotional posts, she expressed her deep sorrow, saying she never imagined she would be without him. “He always made me smile, no matter how I felt,” she reflected, emphasizing the surreal nature of losing him.

The couple had met over two years prior, and one of Joshua’s most memorable videos was a tribute to their relationship, marking their five-month anniversary.

Before his death, he shared sentiments about cherishing their time together and his dreams for their future.

He is survived by his parents and siblings.
