Cause of Death Revealed for The Pogues Frontman Shane MacGowan

The cause of death of Irish punk rock band The Pogues frontman Shane McGowan, who passed away this week surrounded by his wife and family, has been revealed. He was 65 years old.

Mr McGowan’s wife said the cause of his death was pneumonia.

Mr McGowan, who would have turned 66 on Christmas Day, was released from hospital just last week.

As reported by Breitbart News, Ms. Clark acknowledged her husband’s death on Thursday, saying that her beloved singer “will always be the light in my eyes and the measure of my dreams and the love of my life.” ” he said.

“I don’t know what to say so I’ll just say it,” she wrote on Instagram.

“Words cannot express the sense of loss I feel and my longing to see just one more time his smile that lit up my world,” she wrote, “the love of my life. the most beautiful soul, the most beautiful angel.”

He was treated for viral encephalitis (enlargement of the brain) in December 2022 and spent more time in intensive care over the summer.

McGowan has been in a wheelchair since 2015, but returned to hospital last month.

A documentary about his life, Crock Of Gold: A Few Rounds With Shane MacGowan, was released in 2020.

Funeral details have not yet been announced by the family.
