Rep. Carol Miller (R-West Virginia) said that during the Super Bowl on February 11th, CBS and Paramount will run ads for online retailer Temu, which is essentially a subsidiary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). “I shouldn’t do that,” he said during an appearance on the show. Breitbart News Saturdaydescribed this as a “touchdown by the Chinese Communist Party against our team.”
Miller is one of several members of Congress who wrote a letter to Paramount Global and CBS asking them to stop airing a $15 million ad for a Chinese company that uses Uyghur slave labor. .
“This is an online retail shopping company that’s a lot like Amazon. And it’s basically the Communist Party of China, a subsidiary of the Communist Party of China, and it’s linked to these holdings called PDD, and as an American, I don’t understand this. I just feel like this is unacceptable. This is our game. This is the United States. And we have a committee in Congress called the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party. “They have uncovered numerous reports that Tem is not complying with laws prohibiting the importation of illegal products into the United States,” she said, explaining: Tem copies products made by Americans and sells them very cheaply using forced slave labor from Uyghurs.
“Basically, CBS will be airing ads during this year’s Super Bowl for products made with Uyghur forced labor to be sold in Tem. And, as I said, it’s not acceptable. No. Yes, CBS has the right to air the ads, but we are certain that they have the foresight to send a message to the world that they value American exceptionalism and ideals. I’m sitting here thinking, ‘Be an American.’ So, this is our game,” Miller said.
“So this team doesn’t even have a system in place that actually ensures compliance with the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act. So these illegal products are entering the U.S. market every day. “I don’t think anyone should be influenced by bad actors while watching the Bowl,” she continued, calling on Teem to be held accountable for violating U.S. law.
Advertising costs could reportedly be as high as $15 million, and Miller noted that Temu ads could air as early as 2023.
“The Chinese Communist Party is profiting from America, all the while mocking us. It’s just disgusting that they’re exposing the American people to $15 million worth of ads made about forced labor by Uyghurs. So, allowing ads to air during America’s most popular sporting event is essentially endorsing what the Chinese Communist Party stands for.”
If Chinese companies want to sell in the U.S., she continued, “they should respect Chinese laws.”
“At the moment we feel they are ignoring us. They are disrespecting us so we need to show China that we have the upper hand. “In terminology, I think allowing these commercials to air would be a touchdown against the home team for the Chinese Communist Party,” she said. “That’s why I don’t appreciate it.”
listen:
“We will see whether anything comes out of Congress in the future, but as you know, I immediately expressed my opposition to eight members and sent a letter to them. I sent them a message and so far I haven’t heard back.” She added that Breitbart News is helping to make the American public aware of this, and that this “cute thing” is being promoted. He pointed out that people can understand what they are dealing with by looking at the .
Miller also responded to 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, who participated in Tem’s ad, and shared his top pick for Tem.

“I don’t think he worked backwards to really understand what’s at stake here,” she responded. “I mean, he’s focused on football and someone is asking him to do some advertising, but I think if someone pulls him back…”[he would realize] What that actually means and how paying for Chinese products made with slave labor is taking jobs away from Americans. ”
“So I think if someone really explained it to him, he might feel differently about it. But I’m sure he would just say, ‘Wow, I get paid to advertise. So I said, ‘Think about the best thing we can do to educate people, like you’re doing right now. [is] “We’re explaining to the American people what we’re really up against around the world,” she added.
Ultimately, it’s important to “make sure we stand for American values, the American way of life, and stop abandoning them,” Miller said.
