CC Sabathia has excited reaction to Angel Hernandez’s retirement

The news of Angel Hernandez’s retirement seems to have sparked a lot of excited reactions from baseball fans, and one former Yankee player seems to be happy about it as well.

CC Sabathia responded to the news by tweeting a video of his 2018 rant against Hernandez, along with a GIF of a Looney Toons ending credits in which Porky Pig says, “This is the end, guys.”

Hernandez’s retirement news First reported by USA Today The announcement was made on Monday night, with the company later confirming the news in a statement.

“I have decided to spend more time with my family,” Hernandez said in a statement. “Needless to say, there have been many positive changes in baseball since I took this job, including the expansion and advancement of minorities, and I am proud to be an active part of that goal as a major league umpire.”

Hernandez is baseball’s most controversial umpire, widely disliked by players and fans alike for missing obvious calls throughout his career.

Sabathia slammed Hernandez and his work during the 2018 MLB postseason after the Yankees’ season ended with a 4-3 loss in Game 4 of the AL Series to the Red Sox.

“But I have to say this: I don’t think Angel Hernandez should be umpiring a playoff game,” Sabathia said at the time. “He’s just awful. He was a terrible catcher today and he was terrible at first base. I’m surprised he’s even getting a job umpiring a playoff game.”
