Cedric Mullins Shines for the Baltimore Orioles
If the Baltimore Orioles are considering making trades, Cedric Mullins is certainly making a strong case for his worth. The center fielder has been exceptional defensively, showcasing his skills once again this week.
Over the past few days, several impressive plays have highlighted his talent. Most notably, Mullins made a spectacular catch on Wednesday afternoon, robbing an opponent of a home run.
On Saturday, he executed an incredible diving catch against the Colorado Rockies, and just two days later, he helped secure a victory against the Toronto Blue Jays with a crucial play. That catch, though, was nothing compared to what he pulled off on Wednesday.
In the sixth inning, with the Orioles trailing 5-4 and two outs, Ali Sanchez hit a fly ball to center. Mullins tracked it carefully, scaling the wall to extend just enough to make the catch, snatching the ball away from eager fans.
This play not only halted a potential rally from the Blue Jays but also contributed to a response from the Orioles, who managed to score three runs in the next inning.
The afternoon ended with the Blue Jays edging out the Orioles 9-8. Notably, Celantny Dominguez, who had recently been traded to Toronto, made an impact by hitting two home runs against his former team shortly after switching sides.
Currently, the Blue Jays lead the American League East by 4.5 games, and it’s uncertain how much longer Mullins will don an Orioles jersey.
Additionally, Baltimore has made other trades, including reliever Gregory Soto to the New York Mets and Brian Baker to the Tampa Bay Rays.
