CeeDee Lamb’s patience has paid off.
The Cowboys’ star receiver agreed to a four-year, $136 million contract extension with a record $38 million signing bonus on Monday, ending his holdout. According to ESPN:.
Lamb is the second-highest paid player in NFL history with an average annual salary (AAV) of $34 million, just behind Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson’s $35 million.
He has 13 practice days before the Cowboys open the season on the road against the Browns.
Lamb, 25, was in the final year of his $17.991 million rookie contract, but the former Oklahoma star asked for a new deal that would put him on par with his contemporaries.
He stayed away from the campaign during the protests, but the general mood seemed to be that an agreement that worked for both sides would eventually be found.
With Lamb back on the team, the Cowboys will be looking to win the NFC East for the second consecutive year and bounce back from last year’s disastrous first-round playoff loss to the Packers.
