JJ Watt objected to the provocative call made after CeeDee Lamb scored a 55-yard touchdown on “Thursday Night Football.”
The recently retired defensive end was watching the Dallas Cowboys' 20-15 win over the Giants when Lamb caught a touchdown and ran in the direction of Giants corner Deonte Banks as he entered the end zone. I looked back.
Lamb then lightly tossed the ball in Banks' direction, but was given a provocation penalty after scoring.
Watt, now a CBS analyst, was unhappy, but not with Lamb.
“These taunting phone calls are getting out of hand.” Great Texans players posted on X. “Are you saying that deserves a penalty?”
3 years ago The league issued a memo They emphasized what they called “disrespectful behavior” and considered imposing penalties for even superficially benign mockery.
Lamb had a strong performance, recording a season-high seven receptions, 98 receiving yards, and a touchdown despite the penalty.
He also carried the ball three times for eight more yards, giving him 100 all-purpose yards in his first game of 2024.
The Cowboys erased a two-game slide with the road win, improving to 2-2 on the season and pushing the Giants to 1-3.
The Cowboys will play the Steelers next Monday night. Meanwhile, the Giants will visit the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, October 6th.
The Seahawks will have a short rest period after visiting the Detroit Lions this week for Monday Night Football.
