Since Nicki Minaj began to voice more conservative opinions and partner with Turning Point USA, it’s clear that many in the celebrity world aren’t sharing the same enthusiasm for her anymore.
Attacks on her connections with TPUSA and her support for Donald Trump continue, as highlighted during a panel discussion led by moderator Jason Whitlock on “Fearless.” A segment featured Shannon Sharpe and Joe Budden expressing their disapproval of Minaj and the late Charlie Kirk’s initiative.
On the “Club Shay Shay” podcast, Sharpe remarked, “Nicki will be on stage with Charlie Kirk’s widow,” prompting Budden to respond, “I didn’t like it.”
Budden elaborated, criticizing Turning Point for influencing schools with a specific ideology, hinting at a revisionist history. “I think this is about more than just politics. It’s deeper than that…,” he stated, implying a troubling undercurrent to their teachings.
He continued, “There’s a distinct tone that suggests some hidden views, and they seem to veil these white supremacist ideas with Christian rhetoric.” This kind of criticism isn’t new, and while it’s been echoed by others who might present a more informed perspective, Whitlock admits he feels conflicted about Minaj’s stance. He doesn’t personally enjoy her music anymore; in fact, he actively rejects it. However, he notes that he appreciates that she hasn’t aligned entirely with Democrats.
In contrast to Sharpe and Budden, BlazeTV contributor Shemeka Michelle shows her admiration for Minaj’s quest for self-thought. She states, “We all share our opinions on social media. Why shouldn’t she have the same right?” pointing out how some leftists seem more concerned with party loyalty than genuinely caring about racial issues.
Michelle acknowledged Minaj’s admiration for Trump but noted that she hasn’t clearly adopted a strong Christian perspective, suggesting that her alignment feels a bit superficial. Despite this, she supports Minaj’s journey of learning and public questioning, saying it’s a natural process for anyone engaged in social media.
