
Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla said he wanted Boston fans to see the Larry O’Brien championship trophy before Friday’s celebratory parade.
The 35-year-old coach helped the Celtics win the NBA title with a Game 5 win over the Mavericks in Boston on Monday night. Captured on Video He walked with the championship trophy in Boston’s North End neighborhood on Wednesday night.
He let fans and famous restaurateurs touch the trophy. According to the Boston Globe.
A bystander yelled out to the coach, “Coach, how much do you like North End?”
He replied, “I love the city of Boston.”
In response to that question, the person asking the question replied, “That’s right! Thank you so much.”
This came just a day after Coach Mazzulla celebrated with his players in Miami.
Mazzulla is undoubtedly highly regarded now that he’s coached an NBA championship team.
Late at night and into the early morning hours after the Game 5 victory, the second-year Celtics coach and his wife, Kamai, strolled hand in hand through an empty TD Garden, where green and white confetti covered the court.
It happened around 3:20 a.m., according to the Boston Herald.
If Mazzulla loves Boston, Boston has grown to love him as he led the Celtics to their first NBA title since 2008.
The Celtics currently hold the most NBA championships with 18, one ahead of their rivals, the Lakers.
