In August, some Social Security beneficiaries received two checks, meaning they won’t receive one in September. But notably, most recipients won’t see any changes in their regular payment schedules.
Nearly 74 million people receive Social Security benefits, which are typically distributed on Wednesdays throughout the month. For instance, if your birthday falls between the first and tenth, your payment will arrive on the second Wednesday, which is September 10th. Those born between the 11th and 20th will see their payments on the third Wednesday, September 17th. If your birthday is after the 20th, your payment is set for the fourth Wednesday, September 24th. No SSI Payments This September
Unfortunately, those receiving Supplementary Security Income (SSI) won’t be getting a check in September.
Typically, when the month starts on a federal holiday or weekend, SSI benefits are issued early. Therefore, since September 1st is a holiday, the check was sent out on August 29th. The next payment for SSI recipients will be on October 1st.
Around 7.4 million Americans receive these monthly SSI benefits, with many of them also eligible for Social Security.
