Chad Mizzell Set to Resign as Chief of Staff at DOJ

Chad Mizzell, the Chief of Staff at the Department of Justice (DOJ), is expected to step down in the coming weeks, according to various sources.

In a statement made by Mizzell himself, he indicated that he recently learned about his planned resignation from the DOJ. He expressed a strong desire to return to his family in Tampa, Florida. After enduring long commutes, he is looking for a better work-life balance. Interestingly, he noted that his position was always intended to be a short-term commitment aimed at helping Pam Bondy establish her role as U.S. Attorney General.

Even with his departure from a full-time position, Mizzell plans to support the Trump administration remotely from Florida. He stated that he aims to “expose left-wing groups responsible for violence across America.”

Mizzell holds a law degree from Cornell Law School and specializes in fields such as national security and cybersecurity. Early in his career, he focused on legal advisory and compliance, gaining valuable experience in both government and private sectors.

He was appointed as Chief of Staff by President Donald Trump in December of the previous year and began his duties on inauguration day this January. During his time at the DOJ, he played a significant role in overseeing civil rights. Mizzell highlighted the agency’s impressive 21 Supreme Court victories, praising the work of Attorney General Pam Bondy, her deputy Todd Blanche, and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller.

On a personal note, Mizzell is married to Catherine Kimball Mizzell, a federal judge based in Florida. Before stepping into his current role, he was an advisor to the Department of Homeland Security during the Trump administration and had previously worked at the law firm Jones Day. Additionally, he has ties to the Florida Election Commission.
