Two Miami Players to Transfer Amid College Football Playoff Progress
As the Miami Hurricanes continue their journey in the College Football Playoff, two players are reportedly planning to enter the transfer portal. Wide receiver Chance Robinson and tight end Block Shot, a true freshman, are expected to make this move when the portal opens on Friday, according to On3.
Robinson, who is a sophomore, seems to have confirmed this news through a post on X on Thursday night. He expressed his gratitude, stating, “I would like to thank the entire University of Miami and its supporters. There’s nothing I wanted more in life than to be a Hurricane. Thank you for this opportunity!”
Block Shot also shared the report about his portal entry on social media. It’s worth noting Robinson has three years of eligibility remaining, especially after he redshirted the 2025 season at South Florida. In his two years with Miami, he played in five games but was only active in two this past season.
As for Shot, his contributions last season were minimal; he only made an appearance on September 6th, where he caught two passes for 24 yards against Bethune-Cookman.
Interestingly, both players are four-star recruits. Robinson graduated in 2024 from St. Thomas Aquinas College in Fort Lauderdale, while Shot was one of Indiana’s top high school talents.
Robinson has faced a string of injuries throughout his college career, with a hamstring issue notably affecting his 2024 season and lingering into the spring of 2025.
Meanwhile, further news indicates that defensive lineman Donta Simpson is also set to enter the transfer portal. This move comes right after Miami’s significant victory over Ohio State in the College Football Playoff on New Year’s Eve, where they defeated the defending champions 24-14 in the Cotton Bowl.
