Chanel celebrates 100-year anniversary of makeup line with new book

Long before social media existed, Gabrielle Chanel was the first beauty influencer.

The founder and namesake of the French fashion house recognized the transformative power of lipstick, loose powder, and blush for both herself and her clients. In 1924 she launched a makeup line.

Housed in a glossy lipstick red slipcase, the 408-page book traces 100 years of Chanel's cosmetics creation and features iconic campaign images shot by the world's top photographers and filmmakers.
