Channing Tatum Denies Being Roommates with Jax Taylor

Channing Tatum has addressed Jax Taylor’s repeated assertions that they shared a living space, firmly declaring, “absolutely not.”

During an appearance on SiriusXM’s “Andy Cohen Live,” Tatum, who is now 45, was prompted by host Andy Cohen about whether the character Jax from “Vanderpump Rules,” whose real name is Jason Couch, was indeed his roommate.

Tatum responded directly, “Absolutely not,” accompanied by laughter.

Following this, Tatum mentioned that he might not have recognized Taylor, as he had briefly lived with several young models during the early stages of his career.

Cohen argued that they were roommates when Taylor was starting out in modeling, and Tatum suggested he would need to see some photos for confirmation. He explained that he actually resided in a “model house” — essentially just a bed in a shared space with other models — where he was eventually asked to leave after a disagreement with another resident.

After Cohen showed him a picture of Taylor, Tatum admitted he still didn’t make a connection, remarking, “All the models look the same. He’s handsome.” He added, “I don’t think I’ve ever been roommates with him, but, well, maybe—just maybe.”

In 2013, on “Watch What Happens Live,” Taylor mentioned that Tatum was his first roommate when he first came to New York as a model. This claim was reaffirmed in a May 2023 interview with Rolling Stone, where Taylor stated that Tatum was one of the six men he lived with.

Representatives for Taylor have not yet replied to requests for comment.

In earlier discussions on media platforms, Taylor mentioned, “Yeah, he was my first roommate in New York when I first started modeling.” He recalled a similar living situation, describing it as a model home.

According to Taylor, the year was around 2002, when agencies provided apartments for incoming models. He described it as reminiscent of a dormitory, featuring bunk beds and shared bathrooms while noting that Tatum didn’t stay long due to his quickly rising career after appearing in a Mountain Dew commercial.

That commercial was pivotal, enabling Tatum to land a role in “She’s the Man” alongside Amanda Bynes, while Taylor transitioned into a reality television career.

Bynes had also previously commented on Tatum’s memorable commercial, where he impressively flips a car while enjoying soda. In a 2018 interview, she expressed her belief in Tatum’s star potential, saying, “I fought as hard as I could for Channing… I thought, ‘This guy is a star, all the girls are going to love him!'”
