Thursday night’s meeting featured Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) representing the daughter of Judge Juan Machan, the judge overseeing Donald Trump’s so-called “hush money” trial in New York. Chaos erupted after Democrats on the committee asked if they were hiring.

“Do you know what we’re here for?” Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) responded.

“I don’t think they know what they’re here for,” said Congressman Greene.

Things really took a turn for the worst when Green made a comment about Crockett’s fake eyelashes.

“I think the false eyelashes are ruining what I’m reading,” Green said.

The members were cursing each other left and right.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York quickly pounced on Greene’s eyelash comment, calling for it to be removed from the record.

“That is absolutely unacceptable. Attacking someone else’s appearance is just that,” said Rep. Ocasio-Cortez.

“Are your feelings hurt? …Yeah,” Green replied.

The meeting descended into further chaos after Mr Greene refused an apology and Crockett took a jab at him, asking whether his hypothetical remarks would violate protocol.

“I’m just curious, to better understand your ruling. If anyone on this committee starts talking about someone’s bleached blonde, bad-fit butch body, that’s not a character.” “Is that correct?” she asked.

The meeting was originally scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, but was moved to 8 p.m.

The committee ultimately passed a resolution charging Garland with contempt of Congress on a 24-20 vote along party lines.

But both Republicans and Democrats said: politiko Some members of the committee had been drinking earlier that night, but he declined to name them.

After the rant, Crockett accused Green of being a racist.

Greene responded to the incident Friday in a post on Twitter.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) weighed in on the debate, saying, “When we disagree, no matter how intense, we must treat each other with dignity and respect.” .
