Chappell Roan diagnosed with severe depression

Singer Chapel Lone was diagnosed with severe depression in the midst of her meteoric rise to fame.

“I went to a psychiatrist last week because I didn't know what was going on. She diagnosed me with severe depression. I didn't think I was depressed because I'm not actually sad,” the “Pink Pony Club” singer said. explained to The Guardian In an interview published Friday.

“But I have all the symptoms of someone with severe depression,” she noted.

For 26-year-old Loann, symptoms include mental fogginess, difficulty concentrating, forgetfulness and, in her words, “very boring thinking”.

She theorized that her depression was due to the sudden changes in her life that have seen her transform from underground pop princess to full-fledged megastar in the past year.

“Right now, everything I really love to do comes at a cost,” she explained of her new normal.

“If you want to go thrift shopping, you have to book a security guard and know that this is not the norm. How can you go to the park, do pilates or yoga, or do any other activity safely without being stalked or harassed?”

She acknowledged that celebrities often embrace “this crazy behavior” but said she doesn't do it.

“I don't want what people see when they see a celebrity and think they're entitled to,” she further explained.

“I don't care if it seems selfish of me to turn down pictures, your time or hugs. It's not normal and it's weird!”

After winning Best New Artist at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, Loan fired back at rowdy photographers on the awards show's red carpet, telling them to “shut up” and demanding respect.
