Injury Update on Najee Harris
Doug Hendrickson, Najee Harris’s agent, shared on Thursday that the Los Angeles Chargers were involved in a fireworks incident during a July 4 celebration. Surprisingly, Harris, who just started his first season with the team, ended up with a superficial eye injury, but he’s expected to be ready for the upcoming NFL season.
Hendrickson noted that Harris was injured by some attendees at the event. Fortunately, the injury seems to be on the milder side, as he’s anticipated to recover in time for the games ahead. The statement explained the specifics of the event and reassured fans about Harris’s readiness. It’s unclear, though, who else was injured or how severe those injuries were.
On another note, Najee Harris has signed a one-year contract with the Chargers, which is valued at $5.25 million. He’ll be joining a backfield that includes players like Hassan Haskins, Kimani Vidal, Jarrett Patterson, and rookie O’Malion Hampton.
Harris was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Over his career, he has participated in all his games, racking up an impressive 4,312 rushing yards and scoring 28 touchdowns across 68 games. This strong performance has set high expectations for him moving forward.
During the previous season, the Chargers could only manage 1,882 rushing yards, averaging 110.7 yards per game. For context, JK Dobbins was the leading rusher with 905 yards, while Gus Edwards contributed 365 yards. Vidal and Haskins added 155 and 89 yards, respectively. Hopefully, with Harris in the mix, this season will be more productive.
