Chargers the pick over Patriots

CAPS home team:

Sunday

Chargers (-5.5) vs. Patriots

Patriots coach Bill Belichick has enjoyed many moments of magic, including numerous championships, but that magic is missing at this point in his illustrious career.

Chargers QB Justin Herbert struggles for a winning formula in 2023, and Los Angeles will take advantage of it.

Falcons (-2) vs. JETS

Atlanta is far from the strongest team in the NFC South, but these Falcons should have enough weapons to defeat a Jets team asked to deal with a difficult schedule in the AFC.

The Falcons endure.

Lions (-4) vs. Saints

Detroit is in its second of a two-game, three-game road trip this season. The Lions found a way to extend the vigilance of early-season games and got extra rest after the Thanksgiving game. Better days may yet come in this campaign. Lions make up the bulk of this enemy.

Indianapolis (-1) vs. Titans

The Colts should be able to somehow get around the underperforming Titans in the AFC South. We like Indy coach Shane Steichen, so we can imagine better days ahead. Neither side should expect to find easy prey from these enemies.

Steelers (-5.5) vs. Cardinals

Pittsburgh continues to make the most of the benefits at hand. Those who don’t pay Pittsburgh a proper evaluation fee may end up paying the price themselves. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin continues to be a smart operator who makes the most of his personnel.

Buccaneers (-5.5) vs. Panthers

Carolina endured a terrible season, winning just one of their first 11 games. The Buccaneers need to somehow take advantage of this, especially benefiting from coach Todd Bowles’ insight and experience over Carolina’s interim coach Chris Tabor.

Dolphins (-9.5) vs. Commanders

Miami remains the clear favorite in the AFC East and has a healthy advantage over the Bills, another favorite. QB Tua Tagovailoa will likely be the key to Miami’s mid-term success, as long as he can stay healthy enough to perform at his best. The managers are in limbo after firing defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio. Miami masters the home team’s limited offense.

Broncos (+3.5) vs. Texans

Denver has been setting the tone for the first half of the season. We now expect the Broncos to be poised to take multiple meaningful steps down the road. We believe Sean Payton remains one of the most underrated NFL coaches and he has the ability to prove it. Don’t be surprised if a Texan bruises his toe at home.

Browns (+3.5) vs. RAMS

Haber believes the Browns are still far from where they want to go in terms of form. The Browns hope the addition of Joe Flacco will help propel them to bigger and better things, Caution says, if the Rams can maintain their alert start, but for now, the Browns he claimed.

49ers (-3) vs. Eagles

Expect this seasonal headliner to be all the hype. Philadelphia is a strong, versatile team that has already proven that the 2022 season was no fluke. Coach Kyle Shanahan and his 49ers are expected to help with an opponent that will be difficult for even these Eagles to deal with.

Chiefs (-6) vs. Packers

Don’t get me wrong. This is one of the tougher tasks Kansas City will have to shoulder on their way to proving their worth with an eye toward bigger and better things in the 2023 postseason. The Packers are clearly improving, and the Green Bay contingent appears to be facing one last shot at a major league team approaching the playoffs.

Monday

Jaguars (-8.5) vs. Bengals

Cincinnati doesn’t boast an all-around roster as it enters the final full month of the regular season. The Bengals’ injury list is deep, and Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars, led by Joe Burrow (who underwent season-ending surgery), appear to be better options than the Bengals, who are without Burrow and led by Jake Browning.
