Charges Dropped Against Woman Accused of Assaulting Pro-Life Journalist

The Manhattan District Attorney’s office has dismissed allegations against a woman, Savanna Craven Antao, who was accused of assaulting a pro-life journalist.

In April, Craven Antao was reporting on a street interview in Harlem regarding a planned parent-child relationship when an altercation occurred with Brianna J. Rivers. During this, Rivers allegedly punched her, according to recent reports.

Craven Antao updated her followers, stating that the charges against Rivers would be dismissed by the DA’s office. Initially charged with a felony, the offense was downgraded to a misdemeanor before being completely dropped.

In a video, Craven Antao expressed her frustration, implying that her case seemed to be “deliberately stumbling.”

According to what was noted, shortly after the incident, the New York City Police arrested the assailant, who faced two counts of assault.

Craven Antao was on assignment for a live-action project at the time of the incident. Footage from the encounter shows the two women engaged in conversation when things escalated. After the punch, Rivers exited the scene while making an obscene gesture.

Craven’s husband, Henry, intervened when the situation turned aggressive and the couple called the police. However, they couldn’t immediately identify Rivers as the assailant. Craven Antao ended up needing stitches due to her injuries.

Recently, the Thomas More Society, a public interest law firm, announced plans to file a civil suit on behalf of Craven Antao. They expressed concern over what they perceive as double standards in the enforcement of laws regarding violence against pro-life advocates.

They cited instances where individuals attacking pro-life supporters faced lenient consequences, contrasting sharply with harsher treatment of those engaged in peaceful pro-life activities.

Ultimately, Craven Antao shared that she still wishes to pray for Rivers despite the assault, indicating a commitment to her pro-life work moving forward.
