Charlamagne Urges Democrats to End Government Shutdown
As the government shutdown begins to impact Americans, radio host Charlamagne the God has encouraged Democrats to reconsider their position and seek solutions. On Monday’s episode of “Breakfast Club,” he suggested that the Democratic party seems to be entrenched in a stalemate over issues that, well, they might not win.
He pointed out that healthcare costs are already on the rise due to what he referred to as the “big, beautiful bill,” which doesn’t provide any extensions on tax credits to help manage those costs. “If they’re going to increase anyway, then why are Democrats holding onto a shutdown?” he questioned.
His co-host, Mimi Brown, chimed in, mentioning that many are already receiving notifications regarding changes in their health insurance premiums. “These premiums are set for a year,” Charlamagne added, “and if they’re going up already, perhaps it’s time to give the public some reassurance and get the government functioning again.”
Charlamagne also voiced concerns over programs like SNAP, appealing directly to Democratic leaders to bring an end to the shutdown. “Look, you all have fought hard, but it seems like the battle has been lost. Let’s just call it a day here,” he said. “Reopen the government! People need their benefits and government workers deserve their paychecks. We don’t want chaos at TSA during the holidays.” He expressed a sense of defeat, suggesting that it really feels like they’ve lost this round.
Co-host DJ Envy echoed a more upbeat sentiment, suggesting that perhaps it’s time to take pride in the moment, whatever that might mean amidst the turmoil.
