He’s been making waves in interviews with lawmakers and Washington dignitaries, and Charlaman the God says he wouldn’t rule out a future foray into politics himself.
“I was born in 1978, so I’m not one to say no to anything. One thing I’ve learned in life is you never know what’s going to happen,” the media personality and one of the co-hosts of “The Breakfast Club” said in an exclusive interview with ITK when asked about the possibility of running for office in the future.
“It’s kind of incredible where I’m at right now, so who knows what God has planned,” he continued, adding that whether he has political ambitions is a question that’s “come up a lot lately” in conversations.
“I’m the type of person who really wants to be helpful, and that’s what I want to do for the rest of my life,” the author said.“Be honest or die lying.”
“I’m a really big advocate for mental health, and I’m really committed to trying to put people in a position to be financially independent, so any way I can help and genuinely help people put food on the table and stay healthy and safe both physically and mentally, I’m happy to do that,” he said.
“And if that leads me to politics, I wouldn’t rule it out,” added the outspoken political and cultural commentator, who has supported Vice President Harris’s presidential bid.
But if he were to run for office, would his campaign posters feature him as “President Sharmaan the God” or would they use his real name, Leonard McKelvey?
“It’s definitely going to be under Leonard McKelvie, but there’s going to be a lot of people calling me Charlamagne, just because that’s what they call me,” he replied with a laugh.
“Arnold Schwarzenegger ran for governor of California and people still called him the Terminator,” Shahramane the God said.
“Even though Donald Trump was president, I still refer to him as the executive producer of ‘The Celebrity Apprentice,'” he said.
“I know that’s going to be the name in government, but people are always going to call you by the name that they know you by,” the 46-year-old former “Tha God’s Honest Truth” host said.
Whichever name he chooses, the CEO of iHeartRadio’s Black Effect Podcast Network was clear about his future political activism: “I’m not saying this is something I want to do, I’m just saying I don’t know. Because if I say no now, God would say, ‘Ha ha. OK, I hear you have a good plan, but I have a plan for you.’ So, you never know what’s going to happen.”
