Radio host Charlamagne the God talked about Vice President Harris' selection of Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.) as her running mate during Friday's debate on her show “The Breakfast Club.” criticized.
'I don't think he's trash, you know what I'm saying?' But I don't know the impact of that,” he said.
When co-host Lauren LoRosa suggested that Walz was “appalling,” Charlamagne countered that voters needed to see Walz at the forefront.
“We don't need that right now. No need to chill Waltz. Okay, we need you on the front lines, okay,” he told listeners.
“We need a white man who excites other white people. I don't know if he's that white guy who does that,” the host added.
Polls in recent weeks have shown Walz lagging behind Trump's running mate in voters' perceptions of masculinity. Thirty-eight percent of voters view Mr. Vance as “fully masculine,” compared to 27% for Mr. Walz.
According to a Hill/Decision Desk poll, Mr. Walz's approval rating among voters is 42.9%, while Mr. Vance's approval rating is 41.3%.
Walz is holding events this weekend in Chicago, Boston and Omaha, Nebraska, as he works to capture the attention of voters on the campaign trail.
