Barkley Refuses Swift-Kelce Wedding Invite
Not everyone is eager to attend a Taylor Swift event.
Charles Barkley, the former NBA star and current analyst for “Inside the NBA,” has indeed decided to pass on the invitation to Swift and NFL tight end Travis Kelce’s wedding, scheduled for July 3 at Madison Square Garden. In a chat on 97.5 The Fanatic’s “Unfiltered with Ricky Bo and Bill Corrallo,” he remarked, “I’m not going to a wedding or a funeral.”
He elaborated, saying, “I received the invite, but I declined politely because it seemed like a silly show.” Barkley continued, sharing a bit more, “I enjoy hanging out with Travis and Jason. I met Taylor once, but it was just too much for me. Honestly, I’d rather just play golf than dress up.” He acknowledged that receiving the invite was special, though.
This came after a comment from Corrallo, who mused whether Barkley hadn’t gotten an invite since his name didn’t make any headlines about the wedding.
The couple’s wedding had quite the star-studded guest list, featuring numerous personalities from the sports media world. Attendees included Tom Brady, Kevin Burkhardt, Greg Olsen, and Erin Andrews, among others.
Others from the Prime Video’s Thursday Night Football team, like Tony Gonzalez and Richard Sherman, were also present, along with notable figures from ESPN.
Michael Strahan referred to the event as Swift and Kelce’s “dream wedding,” describing it as “absolutely amazing” during Saturday’s “Good Morning America.”
Interestingly, former NFL player and podcaster Will Compton expressed his surprise at not receiving an invitation, sharing his thoughts on Wake Up Barstool.
