Charles Barkley on Wednesday took a dig at President Biden and the Democratic Party, accusing them of only caring about “black people every four years” before the election.
The co-host of CNN’s “King Charles” said this while explaining why he believes former President Donald Trump appeals to some black voters.
“The reason I think the Democrats and Mr. Biden and President Biden are losing black votes is because they only think about black people every four years,” Barclay asserted.
The notoriously outspoken NBA great claimed that progressives only visit black neighborhoods and make empty promises to get votes.
“And at the end of the day, we black people say, “I don’t know anything other than my ability to dunk a basketball, and all my neighbors’ hoods are the same as they used to be, and the schools are the same as they were,” he said. Said. “I think that’s why black people are so disappointed in the Democratic Party that they’re leaving the party.”
Barkley, 61, said he has voted Democratic in almost every election, “because I thought it would help black people and poor people.”
The Phoenix Suns legend said he has only voted Republican once, for former Ohio Gov. John Kasich in his unsuccessful bid for the White House.
“But now I feel like I understand why black people are leaving.” [the Democratic Party]I’d like to vote for someone else…” Barclay added.
CNN commentator Van Jones agreed with Barkley’s passionate views, but said poor whites who have voted for Republican candidates for generations have not made as much progress as blacks who have voted for Democrats. It pointed out.
“So both parties have a problem with the poor,” Jones concluded.
