Charles Davalan from Arkansas breaks down in tears following a costly mistake in the CWS

Emotional Aftermath of Arkansas Loss in College World Series

Charles D’Abaran was visibly shaken following a critical error that contributed to Arkansas’s defeat against LSU in the College World Series semi-finals.

His mistake allowed LSU to tie the game during a tense moment on Wednesday night in Omaha, Nevada, just as Arkansas seemed poised to make it to the championship.

With the game concluded, D’Abaran sat on the field, a blank expression on his face, before tears began to stream down. It was a poignant moment, showing the weight of the loss.

Coaches and teammates rallied around the upset sophomore, offering comfort in the form of long embraces and supportive words.

Despite their encouragement, D’Abaran appeared lost in his thoughts.

At one point, Arkansas held a 5-3 lead with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, with runners on second base.

Then LSU’s Louis Hernandez hit a powerful line drive to left field, but D’Abaran misjudged the ball, which then hit him and bounced away.

This blunder allowed two runs to score, leveling the game at 5-5.

“It was hit hard, and Charles seemed to slide out to make the catch,” Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn explained. “Somehow, he lost sight of it.”

The subsequent batter, Jared Jones, then hit a line drive that got past second baseman Cam Kozir, allowing LSU to secure the game-winning run.

LSU is set to face Coastal Carolina in the championship series, aiming for their second title in three years.

This season, D’Abaran posted impressive numbers with a .352 batting average, 14 home runs, 60 RBIs, and a 1.012 OPS, earning a spot on the All-SEC first team.

Yet, despite his successes, it’s a season that ended on a devastating note for him.
