Honoring Dr. Charles Krauthammer’s Legacy

During Monday’s episode of “Special Report,” Daniel Krauthammer, the son of the late Fox News contributor Dr. Charles Krauthammer, took a moment to recognize this year’s recipients of the 7th Annual Dr. Charles Krauthammer Memorial Scholarship. He reflected on his father’s impactful legacy, which continues to resonate today.

The Dr. Charles Krauthammer Memorial Scholarship is given each year to children of Fox News employees. This time around, the honors went to Amanda Parker from Walter Panas High School in Cortland Manor, New York, and Tess Sonne from Horace Greeley High School in Chappaqua, New York. Both of them graduated as valedictorians of their respective classes.

Amanda Parker, during her studies, received several accolades including the Harvard Book Award and the Advanced Placement Chemistry Award. She has also been recognized as a National Distinguished Scholar. Looking ahead, Parker plans to attend Stony Brook University to study environmental biology. It’s interesting to note that she’s the daughter of a video editor at Fox News Media.

On the other hand, Tess Sonne has shown leadership in Model United Nations and was awarded the George Eastman Young Leader Award. Impressive, she even earned her paramedic certification and has been active in the Chappaqua Volunteer Ambulance Corps. This fall, she is set to attend the University of Virginia. Her parent works as a senior executive at Fox Nation.

Daniel Krauthammer expressed his thoughts on the scholarship, stating, “This scholarship truly honors our father’s memory and love of learning, and we are thrilled to be able to celebrate Amanda and Tess. It’s fun to see what these kids are interested in every year. And these two seem to be interested in science—Amanda in ecology and Tess in medicine.” He went on to share that, well, his father often emphasized how diverse learning enriches other fields, so it’s great to see this enthusiasm in the scholarship recipients.

Dr. Charles Krauthammer was a prominent voice on Fox News Channel from 2002 until his passing in 2018, known for his sharp political insights as a panelist on shows like “Special Report” and “Fox News Sunday.”

The Dr. Charles Krauthammer Memorial Scholarship was established by Fox News Media in 2018. Selected winners are granted funds for up to four years of college, managed through the National Merit Scholarship Program by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, an independent nonprofit organization.
