Earl Charles Spencer has finally broken his silence about his whirlwind romance with his podcast co-host, Dr Kat German, who is 18 years his junior.
Spencer, Princess Diana's younger brother, told the Daily Mail: “I'm too old for hearts and flowers, but being with Kat is the best thing about being myself.'' “Actually, I'm 18 years older than Kat, so it wasn't even a possibility…I'd never dated anyone younger before. I wasn't thinking about romance. I was at the bottom. Spencer announced his divorce from his third wife in June. Karen and Spencer met on a blind date and married in 2011. The two have a daughter, Lady Charlotte Diana.
“It's very sad,” he previously told the Daily Mail about the end of his marriage. “I want to focus on all of my children and grandchildren and wish Karen all the best for the future.”
Karen later thanked her nearly 100,000 Instagram followers for their support.
“I just want to say I'm overwhelmed by the messages of love and support,” she wrote on her personal account. “Thank you, that really meant a lot to me. It's currently being processed. I'll get back to you soon.”

Spencer and Karen's marriage reportedly fell apart while Spencer was writing his memoir, A Very Private School.
In her memoir, Spencer revealed that she was sexually abused as a child. For many years, Spencer kept the abuse a secret. However, after two failed marriages, Spencer realized he needed help.
“I was so confused by endless love disasters, deep unhappiness, and two divorces,” he previously told FOX News Digital. “I also wanted to do something for my kids, and that's actually what inspired me. I wanted to be better for my kids and be a better father. I don't know if my kids would agree that I went through with it, but that was my goal. If I hadn't become a parent, I probably would have just kept coping. [Saying it out loud] It was surprisingly helpful. I didn't get to the root of the problem, but I ended up receiving more honest treatment. ”
Spencer said he has “really turned a corner,” especially in the last three or four months since writing the book. He still uses “highly effective” treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder, as well as tai chi and breathing exercises.
“I have a ton of support technology to help me get to a better situation,” he said.
