Charley Hull returns to promoting nicotine after quitting cigarettes, Mets booth troubles, and steak tacos.

Charley Hull returns to promoting nicotine after quitting cigarettes, Mets booth troubles, and steak tacos.

Let’s dive into Thursday’s Screencap, starting with DoorDash’s financial updates, which honestly leave me scratching my head. There’s a growing trend of people ordering takeout—like Olive Garden—straight to their doorstep, and it seems many are perfectly fine with it.

Back in January, there was a piece in The New York Times about a couple that spends a whopping $700 a week solely on food delivery. The husband mentioned feeling burnt out, saying, “I’d rather just hand over my credit card and deal with the repercussions later.” It stood out that while his son can’t read, he can figure out the Chick-fil-A app. The dad expressed a mix of pride and concern, saying he felt “moved, but also horrified.”

This makes you wonder—are we really this lazy? Sometimes, it’s understandable—say, if you’re a traveling salesman who just wants meals at your hotel instead of hitting up a restaurant. Or maybe you’ve had a serious accident and can’t even consider going out. But still, it raises questions.

Anyway, here’s the thing: DoorDash is gearing up to hit 1 billion deliveries in the next quarter. I mean, that’s quite a leap from late 2025, right? One would think it can’t possibly rise any further, but honestly, who knows? When things get tough, there’s a certain resilience that kicks in.

Never underestimate the American appetite for takeout.

Charlie Hull Is Back

This week on Instagram, Charlie Hull stirred up buzz by teaming up with a nicotine pouch company and letting everyone know she’ll be in a virtual golf tournament this October. Some might recall her puffing on cigars during matches back in 2024.

It looks like she made a pledge to quit smoking altogether, which seems to be holding strong. However, with this new partnership, there seems to be a shift in her choices—now she might be leaning into nicotine pouches instead. It’s an interesting twist.

Let’s Discuss Nicotine Pouches

Thoughts on this, anyone? I’m curious if there’s a new nickname brewing for Hull—”Rippin’ Charlie Hull” doesn’t quite have the right ring. Any ideas are welcome.

Thoughts on Caring for Special Needs

– Legacy Screencaps reader Sean K commented: Big shoutout to Doug and his wife for their commitment to their son, Joey. I know many in similar situations, and the joy reflected in their loved ones’ eyes makes it all worthwhile.

– John from Iowa was touched by Doug’s story: After reading the screencap, I felt compelled to share. I can’t imagine battling those challenges. People like Doug embody the backbone of our country.

Did Marty Overreact?

– Marty from Idaho recounted an odd situation: Early Monday, a strange car pulled into my driveway. A young man asked for help regarding a wandering dog he’d seen. My daughter and grandson were in the house, and I felt uneasy. Eventually, my daughter insisted on taking the dog, but I had misgivings, which led to a bit of a family debate. Did I overreact?

Junior Track Season Wrap-Up

– Gerrard provided some insight: Track meets are long and can be a bit exhausting, but at least it’s less time-consuming than other sports. The spare weekends are a blessing, allowing for actual vacations.

– Brandon from Northern Kentucky expressed: I know how time-consuming these meets can be. We encouraged our daughter to explore something different. Her first event had a ridiculously late start, which was tough.

– Chris A. reminisced about his days in track: From ages 12 to 15, I spent countless hours at track events. It’s a commitment, but it’s enriching in its own way.

Kinsey: I don’t have precise numbers, but Screencaps Jr. is nailing mid-5:30s for his best time, which is impressive for his age. Food and fitness are key for him, and we sure feel grateful.

Now we’re gearing up to embrace a new season. The warmth of spring is here, and I’ve got some planning to do for Mother’s Day. It’ll be a fun challenge.

Back to work for now. Let’s see where the day takes us.
