Charlie Kirk Murdered on University Campus

Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was tragically shot and killed last Thursday at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. His social media presence had a notable impact, with one of his final posts reading, “Jesus defeats death and you can live.”

Kirk was a significant figure who inspired countless young people, encouraging them both in their political pursuits and their faith-based lives. He married Erica Franzbe, previously Miss Arizona USA, in May 2021, and the couple shared two children, a three-year-old daughter and a one-year-old son.

Turning Point USA includes a faith-based branch called Tpusa Faith, aimed at empowering individuals to defend their rights through faith.

The Rev. Rob McCoy, a co-chair of Turning Point Faith, expressed shock following Kirk’s death, referring to him as a friend and a fan of his work. McCoy relayed a profound sentiment: “He made it all with the power of spoken language.” He also shared that Kirk faced threats, yet “…never resorted to violence, while others were unable to counter logic and truth.”

McCoy noted the depth of loss felt by Kirk’s family, particularly for Erica and their children. After Kirk’s passing, McCoy shared, “Charlie didn’t die; instead, he really began to live, forever secured by his Savior, Jesus Christ.”

Many in the faith community have spoken highly of Kirk. Robbie Starbuck remarked that despite being a father, one of Kirk’s greatest contributions was sharing God’s message when many hesitated. He noted a revival of faith on college campuses attributed to Kirk’s outreach.

Will Whitt, a former influencer noted that Kirk was not only respectful but also possessed a courageous faith that inspired many. He emphasized Kirk’s significant impact during his time with the organization.

The Rev. Robert Jeffress stated that Kirk’s death exemplifies the murkiness of evil in the world, urging Americans to condemn the violence and continue to speak the truth, just as Kirk did. He expressed a desire for Kirk’s legacy to encourage others, reminding them of the promise that believers will be united with Jesus Christ after this life.

Kirk’s legacy and the impact he had on countless individuals will surely linger, encouraging ongoing discussions about faith and truth in today’s society.
