Tens of Thousands Honor Charlie Kirk in Arizona
On Sunday, a massive crowd gathered at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, to pay tribute to Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA. Secretary of State Marco Rubio remembered Kirk as a courageous and influential leader whose impact extended well beyond his brief 31 years.
During his remarks, Rubio challenged Marxist ideas prevalent on university campuses, reflecting Kirk’s mission to inspire young Americans with the belief that the U.S. is “the greatest and most exceptional country ever to exist.” He recalled initially doubting Kirk’s ability to convey this message effectively in college environments.
“He led the charge with remarkable knowledge,” Rubio noted. “It’s astonishing how much he knew… but, perhaps, what he truly had was wisdom—a remarkable amount of wisdom for someone so young.”
Rubio emphasized Kirk’s bravery in confronting opposition. He mentioned an interaction with CNN commentator Van Jones as an example. Before his passing, Kirk sought “respectful conversations” that transcended political divides. “He aimed to engage with those who disagreed with him, believing we weren’t meant to isolate ourselves,” Rubio said.
Recently, Rubio had been involved in efforts against the foreign individuals celebrating Kirk’s assassination, advocating for the revocation of their visas. He argued that such actions should disqualify them from being welcomed into a country that embodies the values reflected by Secretary of State Christopher Landau and former President Trump.
Discussing the global reaction to Kirk’s death, Rubio stated, “I’ve just returned from abroad, and in every country I visited, people expressed their sorrow over his passing. In just 31 years, he left a remarkable legacy that’s more vital than ever.”
Rubio also underscored Kirk’s influence on younger generations, noting the values he instilled in them. “I think he significantly impacted young Americans, particularly young men, in a way that felt transformative. It was undeniably positive. He deserves to be remembered,” he remarked.
He concluded with a message reflecting Kirk’s Christian beliefs, expressing hopes for an eternal reunion through Jesus Christ. Rubio emphasized that Kirk wished people to remember his profound faith: “One key takeaway for us is his deep belief in our Creator.”
“God came to us in human form, experienced life and pain like we do, and ultimately triumphed over death,” Rubio shared. “We will have a wonderful reunion with Charlie and all our loved ones again.”
