National Intelligence Director Condemns Assassination of Charlie Kirk
In a vigil held in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, National Intelligence Director Tarshi Gabbard expressed her sorrow over the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. As tears welled in her eyes, she described Kirk’s death as “the definition of terrorism.”
Gabbard quoted from Corinthians, emphasizing the fleeting nature of life. “In the end, our time here is temporary,” she noted, urging everyone to consider how they spend it. “Every day, Charlie Kirk lived out his mission, driven by his faith in Jesus Christ and his steadfast commitment to defending the freedoms laid out in our Constitution and Bill of Rights.”
She later stated that the actions of the assassin were emblematic of terrorism. “They think their only recourse is to commit violent acts, silence those who disagree, and instill fear,” she remarked. “This is terrorism, plain and simple. We cannot silence ourselves in the face of such terror.”
Charlie Kirk, only 31, was shot while speaking at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University last Wednesday. He leaves behind a wife and two children. President Donald Trump acknowledged Kirk’s impact following the news of his death.
“The great and legendary Charlie Kirk is gone,” Trump said. “He understood the youth of our nation better than anyone. He focused on everyone, especially me, and now he’s no longer with us. My deepest sympathies go to his family, particularly his beautiful wife, Erica. Charlie, we love you!”
