Surge in Popularity for Charlie Kirk’s Work Following His Assassination

After the assassination of 31-year-old conservative figure Charlie Kirk last Wednesday, both his podcast and book experienced a significant rise in popularity across major platforms.

Kirk, who founded Turning Point USA, was a well-known personality among young conservatives, particularly recognized for his podcast, The Charlie Kirk Show.

On Spotify, his podcast reached 26th place on the charts, showing an upward trend.

His soon-to-be-released book, titled “Stop, Stop, in The God: Why Celebrate Sabbath,” found its way into the top spots on Amazon’s bestseller list.

This book serves as a guide on “How to plug, charge, and reconnect with God, family, and myself” and has even outperformed upcoming releases by former Vice Presidents Kamala Harris and Eric Trump.

Kirk’s previous work, The College Scam, which criticizes the indoctrination seen in American universities, climbed to No. 5 on Amazon’s bestseller list on Monday following its release in 2022.

Furthermore, his 2020 audiobook, The Maga Doctrine, running for six and a half hours, shot up to the third position on both Audible and Apple’s audiobook charts.

Following the shocking news of Kirk’s death, other related works also gained traction.

Canadian rapper Tom McDonald, known for his right-leaning political views, released a tribute track titled “Charlie,” which hit the No. 1 spot on the US iTunes chart and sixth on the international list.

A biography called “The Biography of Charlie Kirk” also made an appearance on Amazon’s bestseller list, landing at No. 9. However, more than half of the reviews for this book were one-star ratings, with many accusing it of being hastily created to profit from Kirk’s passing. Some reviews pointed out that the book was published on the same day he died.

Kirk’s widow, Erika, expressed hope that her late husband’s influence would grow after his death. In a live-streamed speech, she remarked, “My husband’s voice remains; it rings louder and clearer than ever, and his wisdom endures.” This speech has garnered 3.5 million views.

Since the assassination, Kirk’s main Instagram account has gained 3.5 million followers, his podcast’s TikTok has added over 1.5 million followers, and his Facebook page increased by 2.3 million followers.

His primary YouTube channel has seen subscriber numbers climb to nearly five million, up from 3.8 million prior to his death.

The subscriber count for his organization, Turning Point USA, jumped from 3.3 million to 3.85 million.

A 22-year-old named Tyler Robinson was arrested on Friday and is facing charges, including the aggravated murder of Kirk.
