Charlie Sheen Opens Up About Past Sexual Encounters

Charlie Sheen is candidly discussing his previous sexual relationships with men for the first time. In his forthcoming memoir titled “The Book of Sheen” and the Netflix documentary “aka Charlie Sheen,” the 60-year-old actor reflects on his decision to explore new experiences following a long-term relationship with a woman.

“I turned the menu over,” Sheen shares in the documentary. This statement seems to mark a significant shift in his narrative and self-acceptance.

Sheen, known for his role in “Two and a Half Men,” reveals how it felt to go public about his past. He describes this act as “lighting a fuse” that ultimately disrupted his life. “Freedom. That’s… well, that’s freedom,” he adds, though the thoughts feel a bit fragmented, almost as if he’s still processing the implications.

He admits that his experiences with men began during a turbulent period characterized by substance abuse. In an interview, he mentioned, “That’s what started it. It was like a spark. I was trying to understand it while I was off the pipe.” It seems there’s a complex relationship between his substance use and his sexual exploration, which he’s still trying to navigate.

On “Good Morning America,” he elaborated on the reasons behind keeping these encounters a secret. “There was a huge amount of fear attached to it,” he recalled, reflecting on how he thought he could just pay to keep things quiet, hoping it would stay hidden.

Sheen expressed feeling like a hostage to his past and yearning for freedom from that burden. “If people knew, how would the world react?” he wondered, hinting at a deep concern about public perception and potentially negative judgments.

In a previous appearance on “Today,” he disclosed his HIV positive status, revealing that his lifestyle had led him to keep this diagnosis private for a long time. He described a troubling incident where someone staying at his home threatened to expose his health status unless he paid them, a moment that seemingly forced his hand into openness.

Throughout his narrative, Sheen is firm that he has never transmitted HIV to any of his partners, stressing his commitment to transparency in his memoirs and documentaries. “I know for a fact I never did,” he insists.

Since 2017, his focus has shifted toward compensating those impacted by his past actions. He emphasizes that he doesn’t want to frame himself as a victim; rather, he acknowledges that “it takes two to tango.”

As he prepares to release “The Book of Sheen” on September 9 and have his documentary start streaming on Netflix on September 10, Sheen has made it clear: he isn’t interested in running from his past. “I won’t let it own me,” he states, which feels like both a declaration of independence and a complex acknowledgment of those years.
