Charlie Sheen Makes TV Comeback with Father Martin Sheen in “Happy Jack”
Charlie Sheen is heading back to the small screen, and he’s not going solo; his iconic father, Martin Sheen, will be joining him.
In the upcoming comedy “Happy Jack,” they’ll portray a father-son duo, marking Charlie’s first significant role since “Anger Management” concluded in 2014.
“I’ve always believed the moments that really matter happen when they’re meant to,” Charlie remarked in a statement given to Entertainment Weekly.
“The wonderful folks at AMC have played a crucial role in making that moment right now.”
According to a tweet from Variety, Charlie and Martin Sheen are set to star as father and son in this AMC comedy series.
This multi-camera sitcom will kick off production in Los Angeles early next year, aiming for a 2027 release. It will be filmed in front of a live audience.
Charlie further expressed, “It’s been quite a while, and I’m excited to be returning to television in such a meaningful way with a fantastic show.”
Joining him are Matt Ross and Jim Patterson, who previously collaborated with Charlie on “Two and a Half Men.”
“The team is back together—let’s just say it’s time to give the audience what they’ve been waiting for,” Charlie added.
In “Happy Jack,” Charlie plays Jack, who is an irresponsible adult. Interestingly, his father, played by Martin, steps in to help him manage his children. Jack soon finds out that one of his daughters is dating someone who’s, well, around his age, as per Entertainment Weekly.
The series focuses on Charlie’s character as he contemplates what might be his last opportunity to be an active part of his daughters’ lives.
Filming for “Happy Jack” is set to begin in early 2027, with a premiere planned right after, featuring six episodes for its inaugural season.
This isn’t the first time Charlie and Martin have teamed up. They previously acted as father and son in the 1987 film “Wall Street” and during Charlie’s run on “Anger Management.”
Charlie’s return comes after a tumultuous departure from “Two and a Half Men,” where he had famously clashed with creator Chuck Lorre. It’s certainly a moment many fans have been looking forward to.
