Charlize Theron’s Reaction to Bezos and Sanchez’s Wedding

Charlize Theron recently expressed her feelings about Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez as they celebrated their lavish $50 million wedding in Venice, Italy, though she didn’t seem too impressed.

During the fifth annual charity event for the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project, held at the Universal Studios backlot in Los Angeles, the “Old Guard” actress made a comment that hinted at her exclusion from the wedding guest list. “I think we might be the only people who weren’t invited to Bezos’ wedding,” she jokingly stated.

She added, “But they smoke, so it’s fine,” making it clear she was trying to keep the tone light. However, her words also seemed laced with deeper meaning when viewed in context.

At the event, which focused on important social issues, the Oscar-winning actress thanked attendees for participating, especially “when the world feels like it’s on fire.” She addressed concerning topics, saying, “Here in Los Angeles, in the US and around the world, we are retreating quickly. Immigration policies have destroyed families’ lives. Not criminals. Women’s rights are becoming less and less every day.”

When the audience reacted positively, she candidly said, “Yeah, f-k.” Her words resonated, underscoring her frustration with current societal issues.

Although Theron didn’t make it to Bezos and Sanchez’s festivities, their three-day celebration attracted plenty of A-listers, including Kim and Khloe Kardashian, Tom Brady, and Oprah Winfrey, among others. The festivities featured a ceremony on San Giorgio Maggiore Island, performances, and even a pajama-themed party.

However, the extravagant event faced criticism from protesters in Venice demanding that Bezos, aged 61, pay higher taxes. Notably, Greenpeace staged a protest with a large banner at St. Marks Square, emphasizing that if Bezos can afford a wedding in Venice, he should contribute more to society.

The protest group expressed concerns that local authorities, instead of addressing pressing community issues like rising living costs, appeared more focused on catering to wealthy guests. Interestingly, it was reported that prior to their wedding, Bezos and Sanchez donated to local charities and chose to give back to Venice rather than accepting wedding gifts, stating their hope for the city to thrive for future generations.
