Charming Dwarf Golden Retriever’s Frowning Face Is Winning Hearts Everywhere

Some dogs charm us with their cheerful smiles while others do so with their endearing nature. Then there’s this particular Golden Retriever, who has a rather unique tactic—his grumpiness. It’s hard not to become smitten when you see him; it’s an instant connection.

This pup, born with dwarfism, possesses a wonderfully quirky expression that seems a bit cranky but is undeniably charming. Seriously, how can anyone resist that adorably pouty face? You’ve got to check him out!

On November 5, TikToker @echogoldenbear posted a video featuring Echo, a Golden Retriever known as the “World’s Grumpiest Golden Retriever” because of his dwarfism.

Seeing a grumpy Golden Retriever isn’t exactly typical, which is exactly what makes him so endearing. His unusual grumpiness, along with his small stature, captures hearts, and it’s simply hard to not smile back at his grin.

In the comments, loads of viewers expressed their feelings after watching Echo and his big, grouchy smile. It’s clear that people are falling head over heels for him.

One commenter noted, “Hey, there’s nothing wrong with being short and mean—sincerely, a short and mean girl,” while another remarked, “He’s not mean, guys, he just likes to smile a lot.” Someone even chimed in, “No matter how many times you see this trend, I’m gonna like it.”

Other reactions included comments like “So he has a short temper,” “What if he’s trying to smile?” “Grumpy old man,” and “He’s darling. He’s smiling with attitude. It’s fine.”

Dwarfism in Golden Retrievers Isn’t Common

The reason Echo is so small is due to his dwarfism, as revealed in a comment from his owner on the video. Experts note, however, that this condition isn’t common among Golden Retrievers.

A source explains that dwarfism in this breed is “rare but notable,” resulting in a smaller size compared to other Goldens. Typically, it’s caused by a “genetic mutation” affecting bone growth, which can be inherited from either parent.

Whether Echo is genuinely grumpy, just playing around, or genuinely trying to smile, we adore that he’s enjoying life, and it’s heartwarming to see his fanbase grow.
