Charvarius Ward out for Week 6 game due to concussion

Colts Face Injury Setbacks Before Game Against Cardinals

The Indianapolis Colts experienced significant losses in their secondary just before their Week 6 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals. During warmups, cornerback Charvarius Ward had an unexpected collision with tight end Drew Ogletree. He remained on the field for a while until teammates and medical staff assessed him.

Ward was later diagnosed with a concussion and ruled out of the game. This season marks his first with the Colts, where he has made 13 tackles and recorded three pass breakups over four games. Prior to joining the Colts, he spent three seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, where he achieved his first Pro Bowl selection in 2023, leading the NFL with 23 pass breakups.

The Colts’ defense has performed well, ranking third in points allowed and 14th in total yards allowed. However, Ward’s injury is a setback for the team.

Interestingly, this wasn’t the only unusual injury incident for the Colts during warmups. Quarterback Anthony Richardson also faced a freak injury when a training band broke, hitting him in the eye, which led to his removal from the game. In light of this, Riley Leonard has been named the backup quarterback to Daniel Jones.

Injuries are just part of the game, yet it’s always frustrating to see such key players sidelined. It really makes you think about how unpredictable sports can be, doesn’t it?
